ABOUT ME

// everything you might want to know

// the basics

hey, i'm bin (or sarmad if you're my mom). i'm a programmer from texas who spends way too much time in VRChat and probably not enough time sleeping. i specialize in .NET/C# development and have been programming since i was around 7 years old.

i make websites, discord bots, random tools, and occasionally games. most of my projects start as "what if i just..." at 3am and end up becoming actual things people use. i'm not sure if that's a good workflow but it works for me.

fun fact: this entire website is built with ASP.NET Core MVC because i genuinely enjoy C# that much. yes i could have used a static site generator. no i don't regret my choices.

// programming & dev

how i got started

i started programming when i was around 7, messing around with batch scripts and eventually moving to C#. i was that kid who tried to make a "virus" that just opened notepad 100 times. my early projects were terrible discord bots and minecraft server plugins that crashed more often than they worked.

my stack

C# .NET / ASP.NET Core JavaScript React SQL Server PostgreSQL Redis Docker Unity

coding philosophy

i believe in writing code that works first, then making it pretty later (the "later" sometimes never comes, but that's fine). i comment my code when i remember to. i name my variables properly most of the time. i have strong opinions about tabs vs spaces but i've learned not to argue about it anymore.

i like solving problems that have real impact - tools that make someone's life easier, bots that automate tedious tasks, websites that actually look good. i'm not interested in coding for the sake of coding; i want to make things people actually use.

current interests

  • VRChat tooling and automation
  • Discord bot development (still, after all these years)
  • document generation and PDF manipulation
  • web scraping and data collection
  • learning more about game development with Unity

// vrchat life

VRChat is probably where i spend most of my free time. there's something special about being able to hang out with friends from all over the world in a virtual space. i've met some of my closest friends there and had experiences i wouldn't trade for anything.

why vrchat?

honestly? it started as curiosity and became a genuine part of my social life. the creativity in the community is insane - people make entire worlds, custom avatars, games within games. it's like the internet's weird art project that everyone can participate in.

what i do there

  • hang out in chill worlds with friends
  • explore new worlds and find hidden gems
  • occasionally mess around with avatar stuff
  • stay up way too late in sleep calls
  • attend events and meetups
fun fact: my VRChat playtime is genuinely embarrassing. we're talking thousands of hours. i could have learned several languages or gotten multiple degrees in that time. no regrets though.

// gaming

i've been gaming since i was a kid. my taste is all over the place - one day i'm grinding a competitive shooter, the next i'm spending 9 hours in a factory building game watching conveyor belts move stuff around.

genres i enjoy

  • factory/automation games - satisfactory, there's something therapeutic about optimizing production lines
  • flight simulators - MSFS is beautiful and i love just flying around
  • fps games - call of duty, battlefield, fortnite. i'm not amazing but i have fun
  • vr games - vrchat, beat saber, anything that makes use of the medium
  • sandbox/survival - space engineers, minecraft, anything where i can build stuff

gaming philosophy

i play games to have fun and hang out with friends. i'm not super competitive (anymore) and i don't really care about being the best. if i'm having a good time, that's all that matters. some of my best memories are from terrible gaming sessions where everything went wrong but we were all laughing about it.

// aviation

i have a genuine fascination with aviation and flight. there's something magical about watching planes take off and land, understanding how they work, and experiencing flight even if just in a simulator.

flight sim stuff

microsoft flight simulator is my go-to when i want to relax. i love flying around places i've never been to, practicing approaches, or just cruising at altitude watching the scenery. it's meditative in a way that's hard to explain.

dream planes

  • airbus a320 - the most common aircraft in the sky
  • airbus a380 - the largest aircraft in the sky
  • boeing 747 - the queen of the skies

// music & media

music taste

my music taste is honestly all over the place. i don't really have a consistent genre - it depends on my mood, what i'm doing, and sometimes just what youtube autoplay decides to throw at me. i listen to a lot of synthwave, vaporwave, lo-fi, and ambient music, but i also enjoy more energetic music sometimes such as rap, pop, rock, hip-hop, EDM, or even bollywood/indian music.

anime

i watch anime but i'm not like a hardcore seasonal watcher. i have my favorites that i've rewatched multiple times and occasionally pick up new stuff when something catches my attention. i appreciate good storytelling and characters over flashy action (though flashy action is nice too).

  • Code Geass
  • Gundam
  • Attack on Titan
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

youtube & content

youtube is basically my background noise. tech videos, police bodycam footage, gaming content, random video essays at 2am about topics i didn't know i cared about. i fall down rabbit holes constantly and end up knowing random facts about things i'll never need to know.

// personal quirks

sleep schedule

what sleep schedule? i'm usually awake at weird hours. my timezone is CST (central time, texas) but you'll often catch me online at times that suggest i've given up on a normal circadian rhythm. i'm working on it. kinda. not really.

on weekdays, i usually wake up at 8:00AM to get to work by 9:00AM, and try to take my medication by 7:00PM so I can be asleep by 9 or 10PM. on weekends, i usually drift from this schedule but still try to maintain a consistent schedule as much as possible.

work style

i tend to work in bursts. i'll have days where i'm incredibly productive and push out features like crazy, and then days where i stare at my screen wondering why i chose this profession. i've learned to accept the ebbs and flows rather than fight them.

random facts

  • i type faster than i can think sometimes, which leads to interesting typos
  • i have way too many monitors but still feel like i need more
  • i drink a concerning amount of sprite and coffee (working on reducing this)
  • i collect random domains with project ideas that may or may not ever happen
  • i've started more projects than i've finished (relatable programmer moment)

// values & philosophy

on friendships

authenticity matters more to me than anything. i'd rather have a few genuine friends than a hundred surface-level connections. i've been burned by fake people before and it's made me value honesty and realness in relationships. if you're weird, be weird. i'd rather know the real you.

on vulnerability

you might notice i have a diary section on this site with some pretty personal stuff. that's intentional. i believe there's strength in being open about struggles and growth. we all go through shit, and pretending we don't helps nobody. if my experiences help even one person feel less alone, it's worth it.

on growth

i'm not the same person i was a few years ago, and i hope i'm not the same person a few years from now. i've made mistakes - some pretty big ones - and i've learned from them. i try to be better than i was yesterday. sometimes i succeed, sometimes i don't, but the effort matters.

on creating

i make things because i can't not make things. whether it's code, websites, or just random ideas - there's always something brewing in my head. i believe everyone should create something, even if it's just for themselves. the world has enough consumers; be a creator.

i don't always make good things. i got sucked into technology through making malware, trojans, and other blackhat hacking techniques. i was raised on forums and chatrooms like hackforums, raidforums, 4chan, nulled.to, ogusers, and other dark corners of the internet.

// want to connect?

i'm always open to meeting new people, collaborating on projects, or just chatting about random stuff. the best way to reach me is through discord. i try to respond to everyone, though it might take me a bit if i'm working or passed out from sleep deprivation.

if you made it this far, thanks for reading. hope you found something interesting or at least mildly entertaining. feel free to say hi sometime. ^^
